Acts – Acts of the Holy Spirit.
Church – assembly of called ones, the body of believers gathered to worship Christ.
How many times have you heard the words ‘To what Church do you belong to and how many members are in your assembly’?
Have you ever felt guilty or ashamed to answer them, especially if you belong to a small ministry or house assembly?
Well, no more! There is Good News straight from the Word of God!
Whether you Worship Christ as two believers or more; in a certain denomination (church group); or whether you assemble in a big building, a small building, a hall, a house or a garage – this Word is for you:
Matt 18:20 (Amp) says ‘For wherever two or three are gathered ( drawn together as My followers) in (into) My name, there I AM in the midst of them.’
If you are part of an assembly that gathers in Christ Jesus’ name, bringing glory to God, preaching the Gospel of Christ Jesus, are led by Holy Spirit and act on His leading, Christ says He is in your midst! This classifies as an Acts Church.
Even the early church (bodies of believers) didn’t limit themselves to just meeting in the temple but they also met in houses (their dwelling places)! What distinguished them as an Assembly was the power of unity; prayer; Holy Communion; preaching from the Word of God; caring for each other; all actions having the Holy Spirit present in their midst.
Acts 5:42 ‘And daily in the temple, and in every house, they did not cease teaching and preaching Jesus as the Christ.’ NKJV
Acts 5: 42 ‘Day after day, in the temple courts and from house to house, they never stopped teaching and proclaiming the good news that Jesus is the Christ.’ NIV
Acts 2:42-47 ‘ And they continued steadfastly in the apostles doctrine and fellowship, in the breaking of bread, and in prayers. Then fear came upon every soul and many wonders and signs were done through the Apostles. Now all who believed were together, and had all things in common, and sold their possessions and goods, and divided them among all, as anyone had need. So continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, they ate their food with gladness and simplicity of heart, praising God and having favour with all the people. And the Lord added to the church daily those who were being saved.’
Actions of an Acts Assembly
- Wherever the followers of Christ are unified, fellowshipping, worshipping, breaking bread together and praying as one the Holy Spirit will be in their midst.
- Wherever the Holy Spirit is present the Good News is proclaimed with boldness and lives undergo change!
- Whenever lives undergo change the Holy Spirit Power releases signs, wonders, healings and miracles.
The most powerful spiritual movement in the history of Christianity started in Acts 1:8 and its power can still be found today in assemblies where the Holy Spirit moves. The Holy Spirit CANNOT fail!
Just before Jesus ascended into heaven He gave His disciples an important key to a successful ministry: that the Holy Spirit is the answer to witness Christ to all people. (Acts 1:8 )
But how does one release the Power of Holy Spirit in an Assembly? You release it by the power of UNITY: to be together in one accord in prayer and supplication. This unity releases the power of Holy Spirit that brings about many wonders, signs and boldness to speak the Word of God!!
Acts Assemblies receive the Holy Spirit...
- For Spiritual empowered boldness (Acts 4:29-31)
- To Share the good news with boldness (Acts 8:26-40,31,35,37)
- To Serve the needs of others (Acts 6:1-5)
- To be able to face Persecution (Acts 7:55-60)
An Acts Assembly follows in the footsteps of Christ; they care for the needy; share with everyone the gift of Christ Jesus and His grace; and love people into wholeness. Acts Assemblies are not country clubs, clicks or businesses!! They are there for each other and they know their purpose. It’s people that Acts on the leading of Holy Spirit!
Awaken Ministries are called to Raise Generals in the body of Christ! This commission that was given to us by Christ needs to be pursued, not alone but as part of an assembly of believers! Building and growing together! Becoming an effective Assembly under the leading of Holy Spirit in the body of Christ!!
